What are the treatment options available in Cathedral City?

By integrating treatments, the root causes of drug addiction can be addressed and overcome. While treating the causes of addiction is crucial, you also must build coping skills to address the issues that lead to your dependency on alcohol or drugs.

Private Residential Programs

By remaining on the same property that you are receiving your addiction treatments in, you are part of a residential rehab program. Access to daily support and treatment is one of the major benefits.

By being away from your home environment and residing at the rehab centre you can safeguard yourself against the triggers that lead to your drug or alcohol dependence. By choosing to stay in a controlled and supportive environment, you have a better chance of completing your treatment program while protecting yourself against relapse and its potential pitfalls.

Residential programs are considered most effective if your dependency is chronic and complex in nature, or if you suffer from co-occurring disorders or a dual diagnosis. You can begin the initial steps to sobriety by taking part in a residential program, however to get through the difficulty of the early stages of addiction recovery, you must remain committed to the program. Once you have completed your residential treatment programe you will need to become more autonomous and set goals for your new life.

Sober Living Programs

Sober living programs are structured with the necessary support to help people in recovery get what they need from their new life. They support you through:

  1. Regular support from the house manager
  2. Creating guidelines to change your behavior in recovery
  3. Guiding you to develop strong relationships with peers who will share similar experiences to you

Outpatient Programs

Outpatient addiction treatment programs are considered to be flexible and allow you to have treatment at the rehab center while you maintain important career or family commitments.

Outpatient programs offer recovery services through:

  1. Education on abusing substances
  2. Group therapy and individual counseling as vehicles for therapeutic intervention – You should be enrolled in an outpatient program for a minimum of three months, and may continue treatment for longer than a year if necessary.

Detox Only Programs

A detox program is the first step in rehab and is actioned to address your physical dependency on a substance by removing it from your body. You usually undergo withdrawal symptoms as a natural response to the absence of substances in your body.

Withdrawal marks the beginning of the rehabilitation process, and must be followed up by addressing the main causes of your addiction, to prevent the same negative cycle of behaviors. Once alcohol or drugs have been removed from your system you may notice some cravings for it, as well as symptoms of withdrawal for for a few weeks. Your odds of relapsing will be reduced as you develop the important skills necessary for long-term success.

Paying for Private Treatment

Private rehab have to be paid yourself or claimed via your health insurance. Most health insurance providers will cover at least a portion of your rehab program, such as detox, therapy and counseling, medicines and post-rehab support.

The amount of cover provided will change depending on the fine print of your policy as well as your provider’s terms and conditions. We recommend that you find out how much cover you are entitled to before you register for a rehab program. To find out what you could qualify for, please go to our Verify Your Insurance page here.

If you prefer not to claim against your private health insurance, you must pay for your treatment with your own funds. Many treatment providers are willing to extend payment plans to clients when costs are unaffordable.

State Funded Programs

State-funded rehabilitation programs are useful for people who are motivated to overcome a substance or alcohol problem but have limited money to pay privately for a treatment program. These programs utilize government funds from state budgets, Medicaid and federal government to provide addiction recovery and may include:

  1. Medically-assisted drug/alcohol detox
  2. Rehab treatment and aftercare services.

So that you can enroll in a state-funded rehabilitation program you need to provide proof that you reside in a low income household or that you do not have health insurance:

  1. Proof of residence
  2. Proof of your financial situation
  3. History of your medical records and details about your addiction
  4. Proof that you have legal rights to live in the US

Maintaining Addiction Recovery in Cathedral City

You may find some initial challenges once you leave rehab. At rehab you were in a professionally supported, safe environment.

When you leave, you may encounter new challenges or triggers that test your coping skills in ways you may not have anticipated. Long term sobriety is more difficult to maintain when you have had a severe dependency and do not have social support when you leave rehab. Guidance and aftercare support is integral in the early stages of recovery to help prevent relapse.

Aftercare & Alumni Programs

Aftercare programs are an extension of rehab once you leave the rehab center. Unfortunately Relapse may occur in up to 60% of people, and due to the unpredictability of life post-treatment, having aftercare is an integral part of your journey in recovery.

When you get closer to completing your rehab program, you may consider which services will benefit your long term recovery. We will develop an aftercare package that supports you. After the successful completion of your rehab program you will be eligible for joining an alumni community program so you can remain in contact with staff and peers.

You will have access to team events and receive support and encouragement from other people who are in recovery long-term. Plus, you can take the opportunity to support others if you decide to.

Support Groups (Fellowship Meetings)

Support groups continue to be an integral function of long-term recovery because social structures enable long-lasting sobriety. Two of the best and most successful support groups are Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, which make use of the 12-step model to help those in recovery through group meetings.

During meetings, individual members can share their experiences and learn important insights from others. Friendship, empowerment and accountability for our actions are key to long-term recovery, and meetings provide many with the necessary tools to stay sober.

Support for Families & Children Affected by Addiction

The entire family unit is negatively impacted by addiction in the home, and some to a greater extent than others. The individual with the addiction needs support, but other members of the household also need help.

By a family support group, families can manage stress more effectively, and be able to provide better to your loved one recovering from addiction. Some important support groups for families and children affected by addiction include:

  • Parents of Addicted Loved Ones
  • SMART Recovery Family & Friends
  • NAMI Family Support Groups
  • Al-Anon
  • Families Anonymous
  • Alateen
  • Nar-Anon
